Congressional Seminar Essay Contest for High School Students. This essay contest is a major project of The NSCDA held under the auspices of the Washington Workshops Foundation, a private nonprofit educational program in American government for high school students. Winners receive full tuition, including seminar materials.

The Congressional Seminar Essay Contest The Congressional Seminar Scholarship: The Society of The Colonial Dames participates on a national level in the privately sponsored Congressional seminars, The Washington Workshops, by awarding scholarships to weeklong seminars for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade high school students.

Brookwood School junior Madeline Gordon has won The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America’s (NSCDA) Congressional Seminar Essay Contest. The NSCDA essay contest has been held annually for 41 years, and winners are rewarded with a one-week trip to attend a Congressional Seminar Washington, D.C.

Washington Workshop Seminar: The NSCDA-SC holds the Congressional Essay Contest annually, awarding scholarships to high school students for a week in Washington, DC. Joining others from across the United States, they learn about the “inside” of our national government and the important role of citizens in a democratic society.
